Crappy Weekend at the Movies
Crappy movies get crappy box office as Dark Knight hype begins to die down.
It’s not all bad out there. I caught Tropic Thunder on Labor Day and it was really funny, especially for someone who reads the Hollywood trades or is acquainted with the business in any way. A certain star whose career is in a bit of a funk really stole the show in a relatively small role, too.
But what does it say about our society when Bangkok Dangerous is the number one movie in America?
As for my own choices: I played it safe this weekend with my time and money and went to the theater to see 2001: A Space Odyssey. 70mm Cinerama print. It was fittingly epic.
