North Korea: China’s New Province?
North Korean authorities will not admit it, but Kim Jong Il is reportedly unwell. There is no heir apparent, so speculation is rampant as to what might happen to the Hermit Kingdom, including Chinese annexation.
The DPRK has been a Chinese satellite for half a century and it’s safe to say Chinese money keeps the lights on in North Korea, so annexation might not be far fetched.
It certainly is desireable. I’m no fan of the Chinese Politburo, but at least they are a deliberative body and somewhat predictable compared to Kim. I say go for it, comrads!
