UPDATED: Why is McCain Pulling His Punches on Fannie/Freddie?

I’ve been wondering about that, too. McCain often acts conciliatory, but I think he wants to raise a big stink about Fannie and Freddie and how the Democrats are linked to the whole mess closer to election day. Not sure he’s waiting for the bailout bill, as Ace suggests, but it’s possible.
UPDATE: (Via Instapundit) James Pethokoukis has another take, which is less optimistic than Ace’s or mine.
