Differences of Degree and of Kind
One thing is to bend over backwards to blame America first (as Obama did during his recent American Apology World Tour).
Another thing entirely is to bend over just to make nice with Iran: Iran launches airstrikes on Iraqi villages (via Instapundit), perhaps encouraged by the fact that back in February “American fighter jets shot down an Iranian drone flying over Iraq”; but instead of provoking an angry response from the Obama White House “the reaction to the drone incident was muted — perhaps in the interest of keeping the dialogue with Tehran going.”
Jimmy Carter must be sighing with nostalgia…
Even worse is to ask allies to either bend over or roll over and die: Jerusalem Post: Rham Emanuel says thwarting Iran is conditional on progress in peace negotiations between Israel and Palestinians.
I guess we can count on an Israeli strike inside Iran sooner rather than later now.
