UPDATED: See No Evil

At MyDD, it’s Bush’s deficit.  And that’s based on what looks like the NYT’s pathetic attempt to correct the public perception of Obama’s handling of federal spending (the NYT piece is discussed in a different context at American Power).

Of course, the assertion that it is Bush’s deficit – if correct – won’t possibly be correct for much longer; not once Obama gets done spending, as this handy chart shows:

It's Bush's deficit...but it's about to become Obama's...Big Time

If it's Bush's deficit, it's about to become Obama's...Big Time...

In sum, the facts that the deficit has been years in the making and that so much was added to it during the Bush years cannot possibly excuse – or justify – the China-shaking, trillion-dollar debt Obama is about to incur on our behalf.

UPDATE: Funny timing, but just two days ago I wrote that “It’s Obama’s Deficit Now”.  I think that remains pretty hard to dispute, namely because as much as some want to believe it’s Bush’s fault, the fact remains that it’s Obama’s responsibility.  I don’t see Bush in the White House anymore.  Do you?
