This is not the Walt Disney Company I grew up with. DRUDGE REPORT: ABC TURNS PROGRAMMING OVER TO OBAMA – NEWS TO BE ANCHORED FROM INSIDE WHITE HOUSE TO AID HEALTHCARE REFORM PUSH.
The White House is connected to Hollywood in more ways than one. Don’t forget Rahm’s brother is one of the biggest powerbrokers in Tinseltown, especially after the big talent agency merger last month. So I think we can expect more “joint efforts” between the White House and big media in the future.
UPDATE: Dan Riehl finds ABC’s response wanting…to say the least.
Nice try, but the thesis of their article is a dishonest one. The reason why Palin never objected to jokes about her pregnant 17 year old – whatever they were – can’t possibly figure in any analysis about why she is objecting now to jokes about the rape of her 14 year old.
I don’t know. Call me crazy, but maybe she is objecting now because jokes about raping a minor should be outrageous, while jokes about an unwanted pregnancy – while uncharitable – are not cause for outrage. Just a wild guess. Or maybe she thought it was time to draw the line. Whatever.
Isn’t there some member of the Executive Branch on whom MSNBC and the WaPo could focus their spin efforts instead? Don’t try to save Dave now, folks. He’s apologized. That battle is lost. He’ll be lucky if Cynthia Yockey doesn’t get him fired.
UPDATE: Related content at Instapundit: Going after Letterman’s media enablers? Why not? Even now, like the WaPo and MSNBC, they are trying to distract us. It doesn’t matter whether anyone should be offended or not. What matter is that it was wrong and no one should stand for such venom being spewed at one’s kids.

So now that Letterman has apologized, Bill Maher picks up where he left off, insulting Palin and her family.
The ladies from The View are not entirely sympathetic to Palin either.
Simply unbelievable. These people are so scared of Palin that they can’t do the right thing. And they are afraid of her because they know her political career is only getting started.
Well, as for Maher, HBO carries no advertising, but they don’t carry The Sopranos anymore either. How about an HBO boycott? All the cool shows on premiere cable are on Showtime anyway…

So much for the power of Obama’s silence. A big hand to the President for finally saying something. It’s not “interference” in Iran’s affairs to express disapproval of thuggery, whether the election was rigged or not. Sheesh.

There are undoubtedly people who want to liberalize the Iranian regime. They are to be found among the professional classes in Tehran, as well as among students. Many speak English, making them accessible to the touring journalists, diplomats and intelligence people who pass through. They are the ones who can speak to Westerners, and they are the ones willing to speak to Westerners. And these people give Westerners a wildly distorted view of Iran.

Sad. I guess it’s a foregone conclusion now that the Obama White House has spoken (or clucked, to be more precise…).
UPDATE: Compare and contrast. Now, this is courage:
The foreign policy of the U.S. is solely under the President’s control. He alone has the power under our Constitution to direct it. If Obama doesn’t stand with the people of Iran, his legacy will be a sad one. So will the consequences. And neither he nor his boosters will be able to blame the resulting mess on Bush.
Obama ignores the Iranian people at his own risk.
MORE: Related: The high cost of accommodating Iran: “[W]ith the passing of power from George W. Bush’s hands, the mullahs now have little to fear. Very sad. Very sad indeed…

Nikki Finke has the figures and analysis.
Maybe it’s just too painful to see the Obama Effect backfiring in the foreign policy arena after it’s already failed to deliver in the economic policy one; but, at any rate, the Lefties are in fine form tonight:
Andrew Sullivan is equating Karl Rove and Sarah Palin to Iranian thuggery.
Meanwhile, CBS News and TNR are calling Ahmadinejad “Iran’s George W. Bush”.
What’s going on here? Does the American Left – after eight years of whining about make-believe tyranny – not know how to react to actual tyranny when it sees it in action?
It’s time to stand in solidarity with the people of Iran, not to try to score cheap political points. But, as I’ve noted before, the Left can’t help themselves when tragedy strikes.

Funny. I remember Perez Hilton distinctly stating that Obama believes gay and lesbian couples should have the same rights as heterosexual couples.
If anything, the gay lobby can take comfort from the fact that government incompetence can be their ally… sort of: generally, a marriage that was illegal to perform is void, so duping government clerks is a waste of time for gay couples looking to get married.

Elsewhere, Biden blames the bad economy on…the economy? (via Instapundit)
It’s hard to interpret Biden’s words as saying that the bad economy is Bush’s fault, although that’s probably what he was supposed to communicate. But the fact remains that blaming Bush is becoming harder and harder to accomplish, even as Obama’s personal popularity holds up.

Reality is hard for Leftoids (via Insty). Fortunately for them, they are not faced with mind-bending paradoxes like the Letterman-Palin row too often.
But it’s fun to see them squirm when they do: don’t want to give Letterman a pass but still want to hate on Palin? No problem! Attack both!
And if you can give Letterman the benefit of the doubt on the “I meant to demean the 18-year old, not the 14-year old” excuse while you’re at it, why not? It’s not like we were taking you seriously, anyway…
