UPDATED: BREAKING: Former Constitutional Law Professor Discovers Constitutional On/Off Switch

Congratulations, Mr. President!  All those years of work at the University of Chicago Law School have finally paid off for President Obama.  Good for him…and only him.

Administration lawyers are exploring the different options available?  There are only two options: either it’s a treaty or it’s not a treaty.

UPDATE: Yes, I am being very snarky here.  If the treaty is not ratified by the Senate, it won’t become federal law; but since the treaty regards our nuclear weapons and those are under the supervision of the Executive anyway (in his position as Commander-in-Chief), the treaty’s provisions don’t have to be the supreme law of the land for its objectives to be carried out by the military under the President’s supervision, as Professor Reynolds – in my interpretation – implies.

Still, I find it irritating that the administration would emphasize to the press that they are willing to circumvent the Senate’s constitutional role because this is so urgent.  Especially after all the bitching about the Bush Unitary Executive.
