UPDATED: Obama: His Own Worst Enemy
Larry Kudlow:
Obama’s health-care gaffes are mounting. At a press conference a few weeks back, the president let fly with an attack on doctors who remove tonsils instead of handing out allergy pills. Since doctors are very popular in America, and with many Obamacare protesters opposed to putting government central planners between doctors and patients, this was a big mistake. Worth noting, at that same presser, Obama also put his foot in it by attacking the Cambridge police officer at the center of the Henry Louis Gates affair.
And let’s not forget Obama introducing Americans to “Deathbed Measures” just over a month ago. After that, speculating about Death Panels designed to expedite granny’s life span was an easy next step that only made the President’s job of selling Obamacare more difficult. Way to arm the mobs, Mr. President.
Except that you don’t have to speculate if you can reasonably read it in the text of the bill…
UPDATE: Does Mickey Kaus read The Rhetorican? I doubt it, but looks like we’re both looking for the answer to a common question: “[Obama is] talking about a panel of independent experts making end-of-life recommendations in order to save costs that have an effect at an individual level.” (via Instapundit)
Hey, we don’t have to call them Death Panels. “Life-Span Committees” has a nice, positive (if Orwellian) ring to it…
