Pass Obamacare? Maybe Someday… August 19, 2009

So the big news last night was that Dems may go it alone on Obamacare.  And, well, why not?  The “evil-mongers” holding it back are an irrelevant minority, anyway.  Right?

If that is so, then the White House’s problems with the Obamacare push (or shall we call it the Obamacare Putsch?  Yuk, yuk) must lie elsewhere.  Indeed, they lie in the White House itself: Obama dropped keeps dropping the ball, he can’t get it back; and neither can his supporters.

That’s one problem.  But dealing with the shame of political impotence the Left is experiencing in this instance can be even worse!  So it’s much easier to blame “angry” white men, even if some of the most vocal protesters happen to be angry, white-haired men and women.  The Narrative must be upheld.  Unfortunately for the Narrative-givers, in the current media environment the Narrative is doomed to collapse.

Which takes us back to going it alone.  Who needs bipartisanship when you have the majority?  Unless – that is – your majority is only on paper (aka “you don’t have the votes”)?

What to do?  Detonate the Reconciliation nuclear device?  Maybe.  A big maybe.

What, then?  Is that it?

No, not by a long shot.  There’s always the Boiling Frog Scenario, much more subtle than any nuclear device, but just as deadly.  That’s the real measure of last resort here (H/T: Instapundit).  And the water is boiling already (via Hot Air).

We – the Mob – need to keep pushing back.  Our victory is not a pipe dream.  Obama’s Waterloo is at hand.  But even after that happens, when – not if – it happens, we must remain vigilant.

So don’t be a boiling frog.  And keep pushing back.
