UPDATED: Is It Waterloo O’Clock Yet?
Has Obamageddon begun? I don’t see the Obamacare-apture happening just yet, either, but Politico is already calling this Obama’s Lost Summer (although some hyper-sensitive editor seems to have nixed that headline on their own site – another case of a headline with an expiration date?). It’s an honest-to-golly post-mortem. And it’s not even the end of August yet:
What went wrong?
“We weren’t prepared for the level of passion coming from the other side…The forces of ‘no’ were stronger than we thought.”
It’s heartbreaking, I know.
The AP is slightly more optimistic: Health care endgame near but uncertain.
But is there anything to be optimistic about? Hard to believe when Obama himself is making as much sense as a birther in his attempts to boost Obamacare. As if that wasn’t enough, he and his supporters are starting to babble about this battle being just like the 2008 election. You know: “Yes, we can!”
The truth is that times is hard. And that can’t be good for the White House. And if it’s not good for the White House, it can’t be good for Obamacare.
Still, no time to be complacent. Keep pushing. Don’t be a Boiling Frog.
