Rapist chic is so last season. BBC News: French drop call for Polanski’s release: “The French government has dropped its public support for Roman Polanski, saying the 76-year-old director ‘is neither above nor beneath the law’.”
Not to be outdone by the French, the Polish Prime Minister added “that despite a ‘leading Polish director’ being involved, it is still a ‘case of rape and of punishment for having sex with a child’”.
What’s with the French and moral clarity all of a sudden? First, they bring Taken to the big screen, then Sarkozy makes Obama look like a Chamberlain-wannabe; and now this.
Next thing you know, the Dem majority in Congress will vote to rename French Fries at the Congressional cafeteria “Nuance Fries”, or something.
Then again, maybe the French know something about Polanski’s odds that we don’t…
