Newsbusters: Slate editor Jacob Weisberg calls Fox News “un-American”.
Somehow, I don’t think that’s going to stick. Are we to conclude that CNN and MSNBC are hyper-American, perhaps? Don’t make me laugh. Certainly not after the way they treated Rush.
Mr. Weisberg’s asinine pronouncements have earned him an all-American pantsing, just like this guy right here:

How did I miss this? The NFL is not just ok with felons as players. It’s ok with Olbermann’s divisiveness! Good point, Juan Williams!

To a New York law firm? Not clear, but some interesting connections have arisen…
It will be brutally ironic if a big law attorney ends up sued for defamation by Rush Limbaugh, but since terrorist-sponsoring states are now the targets of terrorism, and the Left is tearing itself apart even though it’s at its most powerful in Washington, I don’t think it can be ruled out. Let’s see how the story develops in the days ahead…

Dr. Fiancee turned me on to this clip – which she actually saw on Red Eye. The Rhetorican-ine is a beagle (although in his golden years) so I enjoyed it:
What’s with the show’s producers and cute animals? I watched that broadcast of the Red Eye later on; and they played three more clips of cutesie baby animals.

The terrifying success of Paranormal Activity.
And some more background on the film – from the LAT – here, when people at Paramount were still wondering whether it could get this big.
I actually read that LAT piece on dead tree last month. First time I grabbed an actual newspaper with my own hands in a while! (I was traveling)

Berman Post: ‘Plasma Knife’ can stop bleeding.
Strangely, I was watching plasma cutters at work pretty much all week long, since they are at the center of the reality show I’m working on for NatGeo. Plasma cutters are used for cutting metal, though. And in that respect they can also be used to save lives, since some firefighters use them to extricate accident victims from cars, for example.

Rush Limbaugh has raised his voice in defense of freedom countless times over the years. I’m happy to exercise my freedom to raise my voice in defense of him. I invite you to do the same. It doesn’t matter if he doesn’t “need” it. He deserves it. All of us do. There is little we can do to reverse the injustice of the St. Louis Rams affair, but we can make it up to Rush by giving him the chance to deliver a hell of a show on the day after Election Day, next year.
I’m down with that.
UPDATE: Related content from Professor Althouse (via Insty): Is Rush setting a trap for Sharpton? It sure sounds like Sharpton could run into – ahem – circumstances similar to those ACORN will encounter if it actually sues Breitbart and Co. for their exposes. Incidentally, don’t forget their legal defense funds, links to which are here (under the heading of “ACORN Story Resources”).
Plus this: “This whole NFL controversy is a gift to Rush.”
I think so too, but I still feel bad that he didn’t get to go ahead with his NFL franchise investment.

TLC sues Jon Gosselin for breach of morals clause and exclusivity agreement.
They still have morals clauses in Hollywood? Who knew? And of all the shows that could have them, Jon & Kate Plus 8 had to be one of them. This guy just can’t catch a break.
You know what will piss me off? If that jerk with the kid and the balloon ends up getting his own reality show, which I suspect is what he’s wanted all along. After all, if Octo-Mom can get one, why can’t he and his family?

David Rothkop: Time for the President to Be Decisive:
Right now, even his strongest supporters — and I count myself among them — are worried that much as Abe Lincoln was the great rail splitter, Barack Obama may become known as the great difference splitter. A former senior official, active on the president’s campaign sat in my office just yesterday worrying aloud about whether this is just learning curve behavior or whether we are drifting toward Jimmy II.
I just hope “Jimmy II” doesn’t mean twice as bad as History’s Greatest Monster…

Not at all. I wish I could react to events, like I usually do. But the show I hired on is actually shooting today, so I can’t blog at all.
It’s the last day of production, though. There are several days of editing ahead, so I won’t be completely free, but at least things will be a little slower…

Does Tim Blair of the Daily Telegraph read The Rhetorican? I doubt it. He’s just asking the obvious question – the question any serious journalist would ask – about the timing of this manufactured Rush “scandal”; a question which I posed last night myself.
What can I say? Journalism is hard. It’s up to us bloggers to ask the questions a real professional journalist would ask. Also, we generally don’t have well-staffed legal departments to advise us on defamation risks, so we have to do our own homework. Maybe that explains it…

The HuffPo goes after Rush Limbaugh using iconography from the Democratic Party’s golden whites-only past.
Related: And in the MSM, Limbaugh hate burns even hotter, which is understandable. Think about it: you bust your ass for years to become a national TV personality, you are a good liberal, finally you get your shot before the cameras…and somehow, this conservative with an AM syndicated talk show becomes so successful that if he wanted he could walk up to you and tell you with a straight face: “My name is worth more than your car.”
That’s gotta hurt. Poor Chris Matthews…(yuk, yuk)
But seriously now, Rush owning part of an NFL team is probably perceived by the Sorosphere as potentially mainstreaming him. They can’t have that, obviously. It would be disastrous. So they’re pulling all the stops. The big meme is rolled out; and they accuse him of being a racist, which is ridiculous and false.
What’s so silly about these fabricated quotes attributed to Rush is that he supposedly said them over 10 years ago, and yet with an audience of 20 million+ – and the whole time in the cross-hairs of the MSM – no one’s ever discussed them until now. So much for suspension of disbelief…
