Fox News: Nine big stories the Mainstream Media Ignored in 2009.
H/T: Insty.
It’s not the term “suspect” as used by Obama that was generally seen as problematic. It’s the term “allegedly” as applied to what was known at the time even by Obama’s own administration. Perhaps most telling of all is the word Obama didn’t use that day: terrorist.
At any rate, Krakauer can paint Fox Nation and the entire Right-wing Blogosphere as a bunch of hypocrites all he wants, of course. Who cares? The man is entitled to his opinion. But the fact remains that their hypocrisy or lack thereof is irrelevant to Obama’s dithering. Which is to say that nothing and no one can do away with The Dithering…except for Obama himself. There’s always next year, POTUS, but I ain’t holding my breath.
Even if Dick Cheney gave Obama a big thumbs-up on a daily basis, Obama would remain bathed in his own dithering…with the Towel of Indifference somewhere nearby.
UPDATE: Professor Douglas links with related content. Thanks!
Plus, White House responds to Dick Cheney’s comments within hours, as opposed to Flight 253, which took them days. Of course, with this bunch it’s politics above everything/nothing above politics.
Flying back to the States tonight. In the meantime, I have some things to wrap up here with mom. Help her with some errands and stuff. The weather has improved, so it’ll be nice to be out. In fact, it started improving last night. I was even able to smoke a cigar outside without shivering once. Northern Mexico can get very cold in the wintertime. But last night it was just right.
So no more blogging today. Hopefully I’ll be back to blogging again soon, but spending time with Dr. Fiancee will be a priority…and then it’s back to work for the final stretch of post-production on my current Discovery Channel show.
Also, I realize I forgot to link on Monday to box office results for last weekend. Spaced out again. Here’s a link. The results involve Avatar. So, if you follow these things at all, you probably already know…
WSJ: Obama slams security breach.
What’s another way of saying “the system failed”? “Systemic failure”! I guess POTUS decided to follow Napolitano’s lead.
Strange. He reacted quite differently when the whole thing happened (if you can call that a reaction at all). Just like Napolitano. Must be an administration thing…
Unfortunately, it’s not a B horror movie that’s coming soon. It’s real and it’s happening now. But if it were a movie, it’d be marketed with the tagline: “Elections Have Consequences”.
In fact, political advantage has been handed to them on a silver platter, and not so much by the whims of a committed Jihadist but largely by “clockwork”, the Towel of Indifference, and a year’s worth of Democrat-controlled Washington.
…from Lawhawk: “Regulations that limit who can get up to go to the bathroom and when during a flight makes no sense as a terrorist can simply blow up the plane from his or her seat.”
As they say, read the whole thing.
I’ve been saying for a while now that the Carter years will end up looking better than the Obama years by comparison when it’s all said and done.
The only thing missing was a Killer Rabbit, I thought: an iconic image encapsulating some – if not all – of the worst aspects of the administration.
I used to think this would result in Killer Rabbit imagery. But, of course, Obama is nowhere to be found in the resulting videos or photo of that day’s scary events the way President Carter is in the photos of the Killer Rabbit incident.
But there’s no mistaking Obama in this picture taken just 3 days after the Flight 253 near-miss, before he even took the time to speak in public about Detroit’s underwear bomber. That’s the Killer Rabbit of our times: the Towel of Indifference.
Maybe even the next “it” meme: Obama the victim.
…and it’s “going commando”.
I know. It’s really not funny. The fact remains that our enemy is as lethal and insidious as ever. Think about it: these guys are willing to castrate themselves if they can take dozens of innocent lives in the process. Now, that’s commitment.
Unfortunately, an equivalent commitment to go toe to toe against our enemy is something the Obama administration lacks.
You can add one more to the list: 7. Hillary can handle those 3AM Calls.
Really, who cares if Obama “has a plan” to which aloofness and detachment are key? That’s after. It’s all the “before” that’s a matter of concern.
UPDATE: Couldn’t have said it better: “It’s reactive, and it cripples our ability to prevent the death of innocents.” (via Instapundit)
ReelzChannel has the list.
VIDEO: Napolitano now says the system “failed miserably”.
Not exactly breaking news…
How long before she must disagree with one of her own statements a second time?
The list so far:
1. Global warming.
2. The postulates of The Hamsherist Manifesto ( 1 minute and 15 seconds into this video) in its many iterations, a narrative which was obliterated – along with Hamsher’s credibility – by Jane Hamsher herself.
3. American oppression breeds terrorists. Seems that the enjoyment of “wealth, privilege, and education” breeds terrorists as well. Who knew!
4. Janet Napolitano is looking out for our nation’s security. This one actually failed at Fort Hood. But you knew it was going to once the bumper sticker wrote itself: “I’m a National Security Threat, And I Vote”.
5. Obama has a plan. On one side, an FDL writer thinks Obama’s out to lunch on this one. On the other, so does Jim Geraghty at The Corner. Nuff said.
UPDATE: 6. The system worked like clockwork. Narrative debunking courtesy of Robert Gibbs himself, with a little help from Jake Tapper.

ReelzChannel has a list by Leonard Maltin.
Parcbench Mediaite: What we know so far…
And all the best in 2010. Here’s another great inspirational essay from Mark Alexander at The Patriot Post.
A video tribute from Turner Classic Movies to some movie professionals who passed in 2009.
NYT:
The Ronald Reagan U.C.L.A. Medical Center…has earned a reputation as a place where doctors will go to virtually any length and expense to try to save a patient’s life.
Yet that ethos has made the medical center a prime target for critics in the Obama administration and elsewhere who talk about how much money the nation wastes on needless tests and futile procedures.
Mediaite: Jane Hamsher’s Fox News appearance ignites FireDogStorm: “Is she wrong about the PHrMA deal? No, she’s just 6 months late. In fact, in this clip from July, she not only knows about the PHrMA deal, she has to fight against a conservative who uses it against her.”
Sounds more like she’s 6 months late and a lot of credibility short. I guess she fell for one of those promises of the Democratic Party’s with the sophisticated built-in self-destruct mechanism. You know, really sophisticated. Unlike a rube.
UPDATE: Related content from R.S. McCain.
Legal Insurrection: Biggest Defection of the Day (that you never heard about).
Sure to send a ripple across the Sorosphere. I wonder if TBogg will change his name to TBagg now? HA!
Will Media Matters short circuit or will it turn a blind eye? So many questions. The one certainty here is that the people who condemned Obamacare opponents as violent and racist fools are now siding with the object of their derision. And that makes me laugh. A lot.
WSJ: Gunmen kill Mexican sailor’s family to avenge druglord’s death.
This is a whole new level of brutality and cowardice…
House Democrat to switch to GOP?
We’ll see if it makes a difference. Could be a DIABLO, you know?
Radio Equalizer: Is the White House now executive-producing Morning Joe on MSNBC?
Not the first time the White House “runs” MSNBC programming, either…
We don’t have a post-racial White House, either: Dem Senator condemns Obamacare opposition with racial rhetoric.
Not the smartest move, not the way opposition to O-care is polling. Smells of desperation. But they have 60 votes, so it must be plain stupidity. Ask Janeane Garofalo, Maureen Dowd, and Matt Yglesias. They know. After all, race rules all in Obama’s America.
A nice round-up on the story at Instapundit.
But really, so what if some of the opponents are Aryan? And how do we know that Senator Whitehouse’s family name didn’t use to be Weisshaus?
Barry Steele: Why did I hate Avatar?
Avatar was king of the world, literally, with a worldwide total of over $232 million. It was also the top grosser domestically. Princess and the Frog, The Blind Side, Did You Hear About the Morgans?, and New Moon rounding out the top 5.
Nikki Finke has the figures and analysis.
I know I haven’t linked to Nikki’s box office totals in a couple of weeks. I was a little too wrapped up in the show I’m finishing.
Matthew Vadum: The Fight Against Fascist Obamacare Is Just Beginning: “The beauty of politics is that the fight is never really over. There will be more battles to come.”
Some great points at the link, including awesome stuff from Bill Kristol. As Margaret Thatcher once remarked, “There are no permanent victories in politics.”

That’s what my day has been. I’ve been traveling since the morning. Currently in Houston, waiting to board a plane to my destination in Mexico. Looking forward to blog again soon, while on vacation…
…that makes Obama speak conservatese? First there was his Nobel Peace prize speech…and now this.
It’s all talk, of course, but why would he go out of his way to disappoint so many fellow travelers?
UPDATE: Obama gave his Nobel speech in Oslo, not in Copenhagen, so I changed the title of the post….
Politico: Harry Reid not releasing details of Obamacare bill till possibly Saturday AM…less than 72 hours before key vote.
The only thing that’s transparent about any of this are Harry Reid’s attempts to conceal the content of the bill from public view…
Hellraisers: The Life and Inebriated Times of Richard Burton, Richard Harris, Peter O’Toole, and Oliver Reed by Robert Sellers, reviewed at the L.A. Times.
Sounds like a classier version of Motley Crue: The Dirt…
Nikki Finke thinks it’s too early to tell.
The worst of the show’s post schedule is behind us, but I have a lot of things to wrap up before I head to Mexico for my yearly Christmas trip, so I have the feeling I won’t be posting much today – except for a few Tweets here and there…
Karl Rove: Obama has the “worst ratings of any president at the end of his first year”.
Support for Democrats is also in a slump, according to this WSJ/NBC News poll.
They said he’d bring Hope and Change. And he did. People are hoping this bunch doesn’t make things any worse. And the national mood sure has changed since the last election.
Obama about to nominate a would-be Cuban spy for an ambassadorship?
Plus this: “I still think annointing him a neocon based on his Oslo performance may be a tad premature.”
Come on. Who in the world would take Obama’s Nobel Peace Prize speech as anything other than empty talk?
Politico: “Speaker Nancy Pelosi predicted Wednesday that job creation and deficit reduction will be the central Democratic themes for the coming year.”
What Democrats in Washington have in fact been carrying out is job reduction and deficit creation. So unless in the coming year every Democrat in DC gets miraculously replaced with its Mirror Universe equivalent, I don’t see Pelosi’s prediction panning out theme-wise or otherwise…
