People throw the term “fascism” around too easily these days. Arizona has been the corridor of choice for Mexican illegal aliens for about a decade now. If it’s crawling with Nazis, why did they wait so long to implement their “your papers, please” regime? Or did all the Nazis move in right after Janet “The System Worked” Napolitano move out?
Arizonans have a very good reason to support this new law in large numbers: illegal immigration isn’t just about the movement of people and contraband across the border anymore. In less than a decade, it’s evolved into one more battleground of the Cartel Wars.
Thus, Arizonans are rightfully afraid; and more Americans should be afraid for them, but it seems some people are too busy trying to let everyone know how open minded and tolerant they are, compared to Arizonans, to realize that some very bad stuff is going on at the border. That’s bad stuff that can only spill over into the U.S. before too long.
That was the irony of the refried bean swastikas. There are organizations in Mexico right now terrorizing and killing anyone who dares get in their way, much like the one that made swastikas so infamous some 70 years ago. That’s what Arizona is reacting to. Not Mexicans in and of themselves.

Stealth corrections don’t cut it, LAT. Journalism is hard. That means sometimes you must eat your pride and issue a correction, i.e. publicly admit a mistake was made and express your regret for the error. Don’t make the alpaca tell you twice, people!

If you like your Shakespeare more exotic, though, you can’t beat Akira Kurosawa’s Shakespeare-based films. I’m especially fond of his adaptation of King Lear: Ran, which I’ve also been fortunate enough to watch on the big screen. It was way more fun that way than when I read it in high school in Spanish, that’s for sure. But then again, everything’s more fun with samurai swords.

That number comes to about 20 a day, and includes subpoenas and search warrants from state, local and federal law enforcement officials.”

Olbermann is compared to Joe McCarthy…on the pages of a legacy newspaper.
This could be a first. But don’t get too excited. The same columnist – David Zurawik – also whines about Beck and Limbaugh. At least he doesn’t accuse them of sedition a la Joe Clown. He just calls them “inflammatory”; and puts them in the same category as Olby.
What Zurawik doesn’t get is that Beck, Limbaugh, Palin and anyone remotely aligned with the Tea Party movement are not inflammatory, but symptoms of inflammation.
What’s inflammatory – and repellent, like a patch of poison ivy on an otherwise pleasant meadow - are the encroachments upon liberty and wealth creation being carried out by the current administration and its accomplices in Congress.
The patient needs cortisone badly – to neutralize the inflammatory agents, if you will. And a dose of it is coming, in November.
Olbermann? Olby is indeed inflammatory, but ultimately just a minor irritant.
