Probably Not a Working Breed

To be fair, a stray dog probably makes a greater effort – proportionally speaking – to provide for itself than the average welfare state public employee (once you factor the outrageously generous pensions, salaries, early retirement, and healthcare benefits).
I wouldn’t be surprised if our political class preferred to see private sector-employed Americans be more like dogs: dependent and duty-bound to be loyal at all times. But serfdom will always make a better analogy, since most dog breeds don’t support their masters with the sweat of their brow…
