We need a Chris Christie Genome project. Whatever it is that makes Chris Christie who he is, we must isolate and replicate.
Ultimately, we must clone Governor Christie and create an Army of Christies. More to tutor politicians in the importance of having a spine than anything else. If you hold elected office and you are a Republican, you should not care about being “liked” by your perceived “in” crowd or praised by the media.
Governor Christie understands the Importance of Being Partisan. Partisanship is only a dirty word because the MSM made it so. It has a nasty ring to it, but it’s anything but. That is, unless you think sticking to your guns as a matter of principle is deplorable.
Now partisanship does not automatically equal representative government. But partisan politics is a function of freedom: the freedom to debate and disagree among political factions. In some countries – like North Korea and Cuba – it is banned and criminalized. Those who decry partisanship as something to be avoided at all costs, misunderstand it.
UPDATE: Jimmie Bise reminds us how Obama used partisanship’s bad reputation to make a promise he did not intend to keep (and that Christie’s attitude is just what the people elected him to adopt).
