  I know I haven’t been blogging much lately, but in between the wedding, getting a new job (the day before the wedding), and moving to New Mexico, there just hasn’t been time to even turn on the old laptop.

  Yes, it’s a whole new life for me and Dr. Wife (nee Fiancee), after so many years of being based in L.A. (16 years for me in particular).

  Most improbable of all: I’m once again working for a national cable channel, which I didn’t think was possible outside of the coasts.

  Lots of good changes!  In fact, I’m thinking of changing the blog’s design.  Stay tuned…

  Gawker has felt compelled to issue a defense of the 3-year-old dirt it published about Christine O’Donnell that is not so much a defense as a doubling-down.

  In fact, their headline says they would publish it all over again if they had the chance.  The reason they give for feeling so confident that their cause is the right one is that their goal was to “expose the lies and hypocrisy of a U.S. Senate candidate and prominent Tea Party conservative who uses her own purported chastity and righteousness to market herself and gain political power”.

  Lies and hypocrisy?  O’Donnell has not campaigned on asceticism or run on virginity.  Gawker seems to base their charge of hypocrisy on O’Donnell’s own writings from 12 years ago.  But is it a fact that those old writings of hers from 1998 were (More …)

  Your tax dollars at work…on censorship: NPR Fires Juan Williams Over Remarks About Muslims.

  Funny how Fox News never fired him over his remarks against conservative policies…Can we finally refer to NPR as ‘Minitrue disguised as a public service’ without getting any weird looks?

  NPR is not exactly a federal agency.  But its operation is  financed in part by taxpayers.  That our money can be used to shut people up for  expressing an opinion is beyond disgraceful.

  Hopefully the State Department won’t catch the Ground Zero Mosque imam making any “inappropriate” remarks while on tour.  It’d be terrible to see that guy lose his travel money, wouldn’t it?

  The day before my wedding – about 10 days ago – a TV production entity hired me for a producer position which requires relocating to Albuquerque, New Mexico.  New Mexico’s generous tax incentives have attracted a great deal of production to the state; so I’m not that surprised by this new development – though I wasn’t expecting it so soon, either.

  Although my new employer has offices in Los Angeles as well, it won’t make any sense for me to be based out of L.A. anymore.  So Dr. Wife (nee Dr. Fiancee) and I are packing it up and moving to New Mexico for good.  Or at least for as long as opportunity and ambition dictate, after almost 17 years of making Southern California my home.

  I have the feeling it can’t come at a better time.  California is a mess.

  I’m getting married next Saturday.  As you might have noticed, I don’t blog much on weekdays (due to my job).  Next weekend I probably won’t blog at all.  So I thought I’d post something to keep my small handful of regular readers busy for a few days.

  NYT’s Kate Zernike has never heard of Hayek’s Road to Serfdom?

  It should come as no surprise that Zernike lives in a bubble in which Hayek and his work are never discussed.  The real sin here is that she didn’t bother to do the research before writing the piece.  But even if she had, would she be able to discern good research from bad?

  Then again, with Zernike, it’s a mistake to have high expectations.  Journalism is just too hard for her…
