The Hill: Homeland Security “seizes” website domain names.
Next time you hear a Hollywood figure brag about how Hollywood brings about social change, ask them how they like this sort of change. Because this is – in large part – the federal government doing the bidding of big media companies.
Whatever happened to sending a cease and desist letter with your own attorney?
Gawker sure is lucky it reached an understanding with Harper Collins attorneys over Sarah Palin’s book content, isn’t it?

Seriously now, this is an old-fashioned case of elites looking out for each other, but they’re usually a little more subtle about it. Ask General Electric (the owners of MSNBC). They know.

Almost makes you wonder if MSNBC is in fact bent on unleashing “revolution”, aka TheViolentUprisingAgainstAmericanInstitutionsTo ImmanentizeTheEschatonByForceSinceVotersAren’tFallingForOurLiesAnymoreAndIt’sHarderToStealElectionsNow.
Anyway, Comrade Martinez is what we Spanish-speakers would generally refer to as idiota…

I know I haven’t been blogging much in the last 5 days or so, but things at work revved up given that this week is a short week.
Thanks to those of you who enjoy this blog or link to it on a regular basis. Have a great holiday. I know me and Dr. Wife will, as we gratefully reminisce about how much we’ve been blessed this year.

…Senator Jay Rockefeller, for these memorable words: “There’s a little bug inside of me which wants to get the FCC to say to FOX and to MSNBC: ‘Out. Off. End. Goodbye.’ It would be a big favor to political discourse.”
I think I have an idea of where that bug exactly is.
I’d like to believe the above was said in a moment of exasperation, but coming from Senator Rockefeller, you have to take it seriously whenever he talks about shutting down media outlets:
Regardless, it was a stupid thing to say. The Senator must know that the FCC does not have any such power. First of all, both Fox and MSNBC are cable channels. They don’t need the venerable FCC broadcast license to transmit their content. Second, the FCC can’t pull the plug on any station on the basis of the opinions expressed therein. Freedom of Speech and so on.
Third, how a muzzled press would favor our political discourse is beyond me. On the other hand, it’s easy to see how it would favor many a legislator on the Hill…

Mediaite: Where In the World Is Obama’s Mojo?: “One of the main selling points of an Obama presidency was that he would restore America’s reputation around the world, which had been allegedly tarnished by President Bush…South Korea, China and other foreign leaders not only rebuffed Obama’s economic propositions, but even publicly questioned Obama’s spending habits. What has happened to our inspirational, Nobel Peace Prize-winning, rock star President?“
There was never any mojo. If you want to put it in rock star terms, you got Milli Vanilli-ed.
Plus this: “When Obama appeared on The Daily Show and humorlessly altered his campaign slogan to ‘yes we can . . . but it’s not going to happen overnight’ we should have realized the problem is deeper than anyone might have expected.”
That was your first clue that there was something seriously wrong with this White House? Seriously? What ever happened to the so-called reality-based community? I guess a cult of personality is de rigueur when immanentizing the eschaton…

Poor salesmanship: White House secretly grants 111 Obamacare waivers to different companies and labor unions.
Specifically, the waivers exempt an approved organization from the no-annual-or-lifetime-limits requirement of Section 2711 of the Public Health Services Act that was added to the Act by the Obamacare bill. One of the most onerous provisions of the legislation, no doubt.
It was never about care. It was about control. And evidently some have to be controlled more than others.

Ezra Klein purports to explain how Joe Lieberman helped Dems lose the election.
It didn’t seem to me as if they needed any help, but summarily dismissing Ezra’s piece based on its thesis and title alone would be a mistake. There is something else here: an attempt to uphold one of the Leftie Narratives du jour: “We lost because we weren’t liberal enough” (and its corollary “Liberalism fails when it doesn’t spend enough”).
To sum up, Klein says that Lieberman and other moderate Democrats (i.e., Dems who are not liberal enough*) prevented the Obamacare bill from extending Medicare benefits to younger Americans (currently, only those 65 and older are eligible). And that the resulting failure to expand the welfare state pissed off so many people that Dems just didn’t have a chance at the polls…or not. Thing is, Ezra can’t seem to make up his mind: (More …)

WaPo: To be a great president, Obama should not seek reelection in 2012.
Crazy talk. Nothing Obama does at this point will make him a great president. That opportunity is gone.
In fact, it was never there at all. He is too inexperienced at executive or leadership anything to be a great president. That’s why even loyal machine Democrats ask themselves “How did we elect this guy?”
UPDATE: Related content from Ed Driscoll.
Plus, word among Senate Dems is Obama doesn’t know what he’s doing, says Joe Scarborough.

Calling for revolution one day. Condemning resistance the next. Only on MSNBC, the network that is “not a political”, but a “news operation”.
Well, they wouldn’t be much of a Mini-Ministry of Truth otherwise, would they? It’s not a double standard. It’s The Party line.
You do realize, Comrade Maddow, that you just increased gun sales by several thousands – and took all but one political opponent out of commission, right?
