So I haven’t been posting as often lately. Not only have I been busier than usual at work, but Dr. Wife and I were setting up to depart yesterday for San Miguel de Allende, in Mexico, for a friend’s wedding this Sunday. So we had a lot of little things to plan and do beforehand.
On Thursday, we learned American Airlines canceled a couple of hundred of flights this week – including ours; and after studying our options we opted for calling off of our trip altogether, since American couldn’t get us out of Albuquerque until Sunday and booking with other airlines at the last minute would have cost us a small fortune.
So we’re keeping it local this holiday weekend, which is fine. Air travel sucks anyway, though we were disappointed not to see San Miguel. I especially was looking forward to see some old friends of mine from L.A. who are over there now – coincidentally. On the bright side, we used our new-found spare time to buy a pre-owned Honda CR-V; which we’re eager to get on the road for a leisurely weekend of avoiding The Hangover: Part II.

That’s just the studio trying to capitalize on 3D to sell tickets. In other words, it’s a gimmick. So it adds nothing to the experience. In fact, it probably gets in the way of it. And – according to one study – in the way of selling tickets, too!

DropFox.com‘s first target lays down the law: “We haven’t bowed to any boycott in the past, and we won’t bow to these types of smear campaigns in the future.”
Is Media Matters the one run by little kids? Or is that Think Progress? Don’t these people know that corporations have to answer to myriad shareholders? It doesn’t really matter what a CEO’s politics are or to which candidate the company’s PAC donated. A corporation’s advertising priorities can hardly be set based on politics. So Orbitz’s PAC gave a measly $4800 to the most powerful man in the Senate in 2010. Have you seen how much money Fox News‘ parent company gave to Democratic candidates the same year? Any chance they both gave more to Democrats than they gave to Republicans because Democrats were running Capitol Hill in 2010?
It’s a jungle out there. You advertise where you can be seen by the most eyes and in the best light. In the cable news sphere, that means you advertise on Fox News Channel, kids. Deal with it.
Needless to say, DropFox has an uphill battle ahead of it. Mostly because their goal is stupid: “DropFox’s goal is to pressure advertisers into either pulling their ads from Fox News or forcing Fox to alter its usually conservative messages.” Why don’t you just change the channel, for crying out loud?

Talk about gutsy calls! How did POTUS go from ‘Yes, We Can’ to ‘Drill, Baby, Drill’ in less than 3 years?
Easy: he wants to get re-elected.
Evidently, American wallets weren’t impressed by the Osama hit. Why would they?
Northwest Indiana Times: “Overturning a common law dating back to the English Magna Carta of 1215, the Indiana Supreme Court ruled Thursday that Hoosiers have no right to resist unlawful police entry into their homes.”
I can’t find the text of the decision, so I don’t know exactly under what reasoning the Court reached this conclusion. But there are some quotes from it at the link. Sounds like the Court thinks it’s better to let a cop illegally bust into your home without any resistance whatsoever than to resist such an illegal entry because resisting – you know – may get somebody hurt.
Anyway, I find this holding so inconsistent with the 4th Amendment that I would hope the plaintiffs appeal it all the way to SCOTUS.
