The U.S. Postal Service’s Wisconsin Moment? USPS proposes cutting 120,000 jobs, pulling out of health-care plan “including through layoffs now prohibited by union contracts.”
But that’s not all: “This major restructuring of the Postal Service’s relationship with its workforce would need congressional approval and would face fierce opposition from postal unions. But if approved, eliminating contract provisions that prevent layoffs and quitting the federal employee health and retirement programs could have ramifications for workers across the government and throughout the national’s labor movement.”
Emphasis mine. It sure sounds like the way some people were describing the ripple effect Governor Walker’s on-going – and so far unstoppable – agenda would have on state-level public employee unions nationwide.
In essence, the battle is about to go federal – and it will revolve around a service every American (or at least every Netflix subscriber) depends on.

Twilight of the Rubes: Ed Driscoll: Untangling the Left’s Sudden Obama Antipathy.
Weird. I could have sworn that disliking Obama was racist. Like, straight-up racist. How times change.
Others are caught somewhere between regret and denial, like
fabulousfabulist Tom Friedman. He’d be better of just pretending Obama never happened. It’s more dignified. -

Hypocrisy at the border: NYT: Mexico-Bound Immigrants Face Scrutiny at Border: “It used to be that entering Mexico, whether it was from San Diego or El Paso or here in Nogales, was a cakewalk, with no scrutiny on the United States side of the border and next to none on the Mexico side. But efforts by the Obama administration to reduce the flow of guns and drug money heading from the United States to Mexico have changed that in recent years.”
This would make sense, if it wasn’t for the administration’s egregious complicity in the smuggling of firearms into Mexico.

Way to fight the ‘establishment’, Brit rioters!
“We’re not all gathering together and fighting for a cause. We’re running down Foot Locker and teefin shoes!”
It there was ever a moral center to any of this, it has long dissipated. Of course, the riots themselves would have long dissipated, too, if only British laws hadn’t criminalized the right to self-defense as a matter of policy…

Without a doubt Hollywood studios have a friend in the Obama administration. That’s why piracy of copyrighted content has been such a focus of the federal government in recent years. But even if there is anything shady about the release date of the Bin Laden movie, who cares?
By October 2012, Americans will continue agonizing over the ever deteriorating economy, just like they are now. If killing Bin Laden isn’t helping Obama’s popularity now, you really think it will over a year from now? It’s not like he’s going to do anything to improve the economic situation next year. He hasn’t moved a finger in that regard for almost three years!

Worth his weight in stupidity: Michael Moore thinks Matt Damon should run for president…because “when you run someone who is popular, you win.”
Sure, have Matt Damon run on a third-party ticket, Lefties, please. With Laurence O’Donnell in the VP slot. Why not?
The Left is at its wackiest when it’s mired in despair. Fun to watch, isn’t it?

London Before the Fires and Photographer’s Rights: Back in June, the London Street Photography Festival sent six photographers out to shoot various London locations. A videographer tagged along in each instance to record the photographers carrying out their assignments. The video below shows the interactions that resulted.
I believe the possibility of this sort of confrontations has a chilling effect, at least in some circles. Last month, a friend of mine who is producing a documentary peppered me with a barrage of legal questions in anticipation of a big day of shooting out on the streets of San Diego. That’s not remarkable in and of itself, but what caught my attention is the profound anxiety that he explained he was experiencing because of these legal concerns. Evidently, whether it’s fear of lawsuits or law enforcement, people are being made out to feel as if they’re doing something wrong by engaging in public space photography. That’s just absurd.
Remember: photographers – and filmmakers and videographers, by extension – have rights when shooting in public spaces.
UPDATE: I should add: the video is rather ironic given that London likely has more surveillance cameras per square mile than any other major city in the world…

The Wisconsin recall election in 2 sentences: “The revolution has not occurred…The proletariat did not take over the streets.”
Only right in part. A revolution did occur; and the Left is trying to undo it. Let’s see what happens next Tuesday, when the last of the Wisconsin recall races will take place.
Related: The recall election in 140 characters or less.
UPDATE: The recall election as something completely different.
Hey, neutering Gov. Walker and his agenda is certainly the Left’s Holy Grail this year. If blue Wisconsin can turn red…

WTF?Winning the Future? Gutsycall.com still directing web traffic to official Obama For America site.Try it. Absurd, especially in view of recent events. Not to mention the two years Democrats controlled House, Senate, and White House – with a filibuster-proof majority – going out of their way to not pass a budget or implement the much vaunted “balanced approach” of tax hikes and budget cuts the president keeps whining about.
Sure, it would have been gutsy of Obama to stand up to Pelosi and Reid back then to demand a budget and implement the president’s “balanced approach” vision (which for some strange reason was never talked about until last month). But POTUS and Tim Geithner were out to lunch on that one. And now here we are, forever AAA in the president’s imagination – as if empty, comforting words were all it takes to bring sanity to the nation’s finances.
I know I wrote something similar yesterday, but those of us who’ve had enough of the Dem’s leadership failures and irresponsible acts should never tire of repeating the above facts.
This is the Tea Party’s fault like Obama is winning the future, as Harry Reid’s own words make it plain to see.
