The Death of Movies Weekend Box Office drops…

The Death of Movies: Weekend Box Office drops to 2008 levels.  Well, it hasn’t exactly been a great year in terms of Hollywood offerings.

Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy did pretty good, though (but it’s not exactly Hollywood studio product). We saw it last night. It’s very cerebral and the pacing is quite deliberate, but I never found it boring even though I was already familiar with the story.  Fans of the Le Carré novel – such as my wife – may not find it as satisfying as the 1979 BBC miniseries, which stars Alec Guiness and was also pretty damn entertaining. The cast of the movie – led by Gary Oldman – was excellent, however. The art direction, too.
