Given that Yglesias is a self-identified progressive, you’d expect him to celebrate the fact that some cultures have moved on from those dark days (progress!), instead of lamenting it – assuming that his understanding of history here is accurate (which is assuming a lot).
But then again, progressives like Yglesias are about power and control, not intellectual honesty…
