Unintentional, though, while hearing oral arguments for the video game censorship case of Schwarzenegger v. Entertainment Merchants Association.
Justice Sotomayor seems to earn the prize for most funny lines uttered. But her multiple questions do make evident that the state regulation at issue is probably vague and overbroad…

GeekDad: 10 Things You and Your Kids Will Want From E3.
Sorry, guys. No E3 booth babes. I’d tune in to G4 for that. They should have extensive E3 coverage.
I know my E3 coverage has been non-existent. And I apologize. I love videogames, although I just don’t play them regularly anymore (I haven’t upgraded to a next-gen console yet, either). But in between politics, film, and TV, I just don’t seem to have the time. I wish I could hire a videogame editor, but no chance of that either.
I certainly appreciate any news tips or scoop you may care to send me by e-mail, though.

The economy is a serious matter, but there’s already a casual game online on the topic: Trillion Dollar Bailout.
The point of the game is to field a number of requests from business and homeowners for federal money. You decide who you bailout and who you ignore. A live graph (the “economy bar”) zig zags up and down based on your decisions’ effects on the economy.
Now, I wonder if there’s a hidden small government message to the game, because when I started doling out cash to certain pork projects while ignoring troubled mortgagors and troubled corporations, the economy tanked.
But the second time I played, I did nothing. I handed out zero government cash. And this is what resulted:

Tarantino’s “Gift to Nazi Haters” sounds like a gory, anti-nazi slaughterfest.
And having the protagonists be a team of tough Jewish kids from New York is just brilliant.
Sounds to me like it could be the most fun diversion in this vein since Wolfenstein 3D.

Aren’t video games just wonderful? Now a study indicates real time strategy video games such as Rise of Nations
may improve critical cognitive skills in older folks.
Perhaps it’s better to start this therapy as early in life as possible, no?

Will it work? I think it could. Maybe not with GTA IV, but since it already works with WOW and such, who’s to say it can’t work with smaller games?

Videogame movies are known to generally stink. Predictably, on Metacritic the Max Payne film is rating pretty low based on 17 reviews. So I guess the answer to the question is “not so much”.
That aside, Max Payne
is one of the best shooters I’ve ever played. But I really wasn’t expecting much from the movie.

The farcical anti-video game crusading attorney got disbarred yesterday by the Florida Supreme Court after multiple instances of misconduct.
I don’t know what got into Mr. Thompson, but either he is obsessed with his concept of video games as tools of the devil or he is obsessed with how much money he could make from suing video game companies.
At any rate, I’m sure he’ll be back in one way or another, but not as an attorney (at least not a Florida attorney).
